Frequently asked questions
Who do we work with?
Sleep difficulties can arise at all stages of life and due to many reasons. We work with individuals of all ages — including infants (approximately 6 months onwards), toddlers, children, teenagers, young adults and older adults. We provide personalised, evidence-based treatments appropriate to each age group, whether the sleep difficulty occurs on its own or alongside other psychological conditions.
When and why should I consider sleep treatment?
Sleep treatment may be appropriate if you are taking too long to fall asleep, finding it difficult to fall asleep at your desired bedtime, waking through the night with difficulty returning to sleep, experiencing daytime fatigue or concentration problems, worrying excessively about sleep, relying on medication, struggling with unhelpful bedtime routines, or finding shift work disruptive. Parents may seek help if their children need parental assistance to fall asleep, refuse bedtime, experience nightmares or night terrors, or are disrupting parental sleep.
What do we do?
We focus on evidence-based approaches and predominantly use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), which is the first-line treatment for insomnia above and beyond pharmacological interventions. The aim is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to manage your sleep long-term.
What can I expect during my consultations?
Before your appointments you will complete a 7-day sleep diary and a set of questionnaires. The initial consultation is a comprehensive assessment, discussing your sleep concerns and reviewing the diary and questionnaires. Subsequent sessions teach personalised sleep strategies tailored to your situation. The number and frequency of consultations varies depending on the presenting sleep problem.
How do I book and pay for appointments?
