These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of thepsynapse.com.au (the Website), operated by ThePsynapse Pty Ltd (ABN 35 608 091 676). By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Emergencies and urgent care

Website enquiries and email are monitored during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The Website and email service are not intended for emergencies or urgent clinical communications. If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 000. For 24-hour crisis support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. In South Australia, the Mental Health Triage Service is available 24 hours a day on 13 14 65.

General information and medical advice

Information published on the Website is provided for general information only. It is not medical advice and does not replace an assessment or treatment plan provided by a qualified practitioner. Accessing the Website or submitting an enquiry does not establish a practitioner–patient relationship with ThePsynapse. For advice regarding your individual circumstances, please consult your general practitioner, who can determine whether a referral to one of our specialists is appropriate.

Appointments, referrals and fees

  • Referral requirements vary by service. Counselling does not require a referral. Psychiatry, rTMS and Spravato (esketamine) require a referral from a general practitioner or specialist. To claim Medicare rebates for psychology services, you require a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your general practitioner.
  • Any clinician availability displayed on the Website is indicative only and may change without notice.
  • Medicare, NDIS and private health fund rules may change, and rebates depend on your individual eligibility and circumstances.
  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Missed appointments and late cancellations may incur a DNA fee.

Do not submit detailed health information or urgent requests through the Website forms or by email. Email is not a secure method for transmitting sensitive information, and messages may not be reviewed immediately.
